Justice Tent: Leaks and transparency in the digital age

Justice Tent: Leaks and transparency in the digital age. Monday, June 17th, 2013 at Nawaat’s Office.

On June 17th, 2013, Nawaat organized and hosted the Justice Tent alongside the Freedom Online Coalition conference in Tunis. The event was an open discussion with Jake Appelbaum (Hacker/activist: projet TOR) and Eleanor Saitta (Hacker/activist: Open Internet Tools Project), and coordinated by Sami ben Gharbia about the recent leaks related to the NSA and the PRISM program. The discussion inspired a call to governments from civil society to adopt and comply with the International Principles on the Application of Human Rights to Communications Surveillance. This call captures the “sense of the room” at the justice tent that was organized at nawaat on june 17th, 2013. A Final Plenary Statement From Civil Society representatives who attended the Justice Tent was presented in the final plenary of the conference by Nawaat co-founder Sami ben Gharbia.
